We asked our flight instructor Mohamed Abdelkhalek, CFI, CFII, about his experience and why he loves flying. Read more below!

Q: How did you get into flying?
A: I became interested in flying from my uncle who was a pilot for Egypt Air. I always thought it was so cool how his job allowed him to see the world.

Q: When did you know you wanted to be a pilot?
A: I knew I wanted to be a pilot after I graduated high school and was deciding what to do next. That was when I was able to actually start pursuing the career.

Q: What do you think is important when choosing a flight school?
A: For me, choosing a flight school in a location with good weather and that has a history of maintaining their aircraft properly was important.

Q: What do you like most about being an instructor?
A: The best part of being an instructor to me is the moment my student gets to solo for the first time and getting their PPL. It really shows how their hard work pays off.

Q: What is your most memorable flying experience?
A: The first time I soloed a plane.

Q: What advice would you give students?
A: Make sure you study because you will need the knowledge.

Q: What advice would you give individuals interested in instructing?
A: Make sure to be patient.

Q: What’s next for you?
A: I plan to fly for some kind of commercial airline and then cargo.

Q: If you could fly anywhere, where would it be?
A: Star City, Russia to see their cosmonaut facility in Moscow. Space travel is another interest of mine.
